Will Buchanan serves as the Assistant Coach and Director of Operations for the University of Texas Beach Volleyball program and brings nearly a decade of experience developing athletes at the highest levels of junior and collegiate beach volleyball.
At Texas, Will has helped build one of the nation's premier Division I beach volleyball programs, contributing to a CCSA Conference Championship & Top-5 national finish in 2025 and an MPSF Conference Championship and third-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Championship. His coaching philosophy emphasizes technical excellence, game intelligence, resilience, and long-term athlete development while creating an environment where players enjoy the process of improving. He is committed to providing every athlete—whether they are new to the sport or pursuing college beach volleyball—with elite coaching, individualized feedback, and a positive, competitive training environment.
Head Coach - Club vs Club Open
A multi-sport athlete with a lifetime of competitive experience, Alex played soccer, rugby, and water polo in college prior to finding his true love, volleyball. In 2019, he was given the opportunity to coach beach volleyball with Third Coast Juniors where he started in the Littles program. He finished his time in Houston as the lead coach of the Hangar facility and a staple of 3C’s open and club travel teams. Now with ATX Juniors, he coaches kids from Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio and wants Texas to be the dominant force in juniors beach volleyball.
With almost 2 decades of coaching young athletes under his belt, Alex understands the journey of an athlete and has been blessed to work with girls and boys now competing for several top-10 D1 collegiate beach and indoor volleyball programs. His coaching philosophies focus on honesty and teaching kids to love the game and the process of improving their mental, physical, and technical skills.
Hi, I’m Dakota Goin.
I’m an indoor and beach volleyball coach based in Austin, Texas, with experience coaching athletes of various ages and skill levels. I started coaching beach volleyball in 2022 and have helped four teams qualify for AVP Junior Nationals in 2024.
I’m also an active player in the Austin volleyball community and continue to compete in local tournaments, which helps me bring current competitive experience into my coaching. My coaching philosophy emphasizes intentional training, strong fundamentals, and helping athletes develop confidence, game awareness, and a deeper understanding of the sport.
I’m passionate about creating a positive and competitive environment where athletes can grow both technically and mentally while building a lasting love for volleyball.
Coach Jerod has been coaching beach volleyball since 2020. His passion for beach volleyball ignited shortly after he moved to Austin. Beach volleyball was extremely challenging, competitive, and a great way to continue playing sports post education.
His coaching style is based on past athletic training (football, wrestling, BJJ, Muay Thai) and developing his skills from an entry level player to competing in Open tournaments. Training with local coaches and players has instilled the value of intentional touches to expand his game and performance.
Also, beach volleyball is a great experience and very fun! It allows you to meet similar minded people with a passion of getting a little better each time. He has coached for various junior programs, coached adults, and designed training sessions with his fellow competitors/friends.
He hopes to share his love for the sport and transfer his knowledge to the next generation. Beach volleyball has provided Jerod with many gifts, challenges, and experiences and he enjoys sharing those with others as they pursue their beach volleyball goals.
